Is it allowed to open another account whilst in debt management program?
she has current account with natwest, a visa electron card. want to keep it to debit her bills but want to open a new account to other bank with visa card , is she allowed?|||If it is just to open a bank account then yes you can, but it has to be a basic account, with no overdraft facility, the bank with not issue that anyway, they will only offer a basci account, and a savings account. I am on a debt management plan and had to open a new account, which was with the Royal Bank of Scotland, and only got a basic current account, with no overdraft. If it is a visa card she is after, then i dont think its a good idea, if she is wanting to get out of being in debt, then why go for something that will just make the situation worse.|||It depends on the terms and conditions of the debt management program, but if you look very closely, chances are that one of the terms of the debt management program is that no new debt be incurred while in the debt management program.
